No body is shrugging.
What did you do the last time you were tear gassed while peacefully protesting killer cops? Are you an American? Americans don't take kindly to that shit. I don't think if the cops killed your uncle, or brother, or dad, and you went out to protest this and were gassed and beaten, that you would put down your little sign and shuffle off home.
More likely you watched from your cozy comfy chair on you big screen in you nice house in your nice neighborhood where the police call you sir.
I'll bet that if your local police didn't give you the respect you feel you deserve you would be right down there at city hall in their face giving them the what for. And if they in turn tear gassed you and beat you with a nightstick who knows what the hell would happen.
But I'm just guessing here. Please excuse me if I am wrong.
Don't get me wrong. I am not angry with you, or trying to make you look bad. I'm just wanting you to look at it from the view point of real Americans being abused by their government for generations, and how you would expect real Americans to react to that.
I know the feeling of anger that welled up inside me when I was tear gassed as a young man protesting war. I felt anything but peaceful. I was instantly ready for war. Being gassed, beaten, and shot by your own government gives you a unique perspective on what might be acceptable behavior at a protest.
Maybe going to a protest would give you some insight. It takes real guts to put yourself out there with nothing but a mask and a waterbottle in front of a bunch of guys that don't agree with you. That's a bunch of guys with guns and tear gas.
